What is HSK?

HSK test stands for Hànyǔ Shuǐpíng Kǎoshì (Chinese Proficiency Test) is a standard Chinese test for Mandarin language skills where HSK is similar to TOEFL in English.

What is HSK for?

1) As a sign of the standard level of Mandarin proficiency recognized in China and worldwide. 

2) As a condition of applying for a job in a company or institution that requires a level of proficiency in Mandarin with the job application. 

3) To qualify for higher education such as college, university in China or Taiwan.

"How do I know which level of my Chinese proficiency is ?"

HSK Level 1
Students will be able to understand and use a few simple Chinese words and sentences to meet their specific needs in communication and to prepare themselves for further learning.

HSK Level 2
Students can use the Chinese language on a basic level in day-to-day situations.

HSK Level 3
Students of elementary-intermediate level can complete day-to-day tasks in life, at school or at work, and can easily communicate when traveling around China.

HSK Level 4
Students can speak about a broad range of topics in Chinese and can communicate with native speakers on a high level.

HSK Level 5
Students can read Chinese newspapers and books, watch movies, write and make long presentations using the Chinese language.

HSK- Level 6
Students can easily understand any information in Chinese and can freely express themselves in both written and oral form.
